Description

The Global South Alliance Digital Library is an initiative derived from another project carried out by Data Privacy Brazil since 2022, titled “Amplifying Global South Voices in Digital Rights Policymaking,”.

One of the outcomes of the project was the formation of the Global South Alliance, composed of 13 organizations working to promote digital rights across the Global South. Data Privacy Brazil is part of the Alliance’s Steering Committee, alongside the Aapti Institute and Paradigm Initiative.

The Alliance is guided by the mission of amplifying the voices of Global South organizations, promoting equitable access to digital resources, and influencing digital rights policies around the world. The Digital Library emerged as an initiative to actively share resources produced by Alliance members.

Coordinated by the Organizing Committee, the project focuses on curating and organizing these materials, making them available in various formats – podcasts, videos, reports, documents, and other written content. In addition to the organization of the materials themselves, the open nature of the Library allows other activists, researchers, and other interested parties to access resources and knowledge from these actors in the Global South on datafication and related topics.

Currently, the Library holds over 5,000 resources developed by NGOs from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Its goal is to promote access to diverse materials, encouraging research and partnerships aimed at amplifying Global South perspectives.
