Shaping the WSIS+20 Review for a Unified Internet Multistakeholderism

Description

This research mapped the positioning of the Brazilian government during the negotiations of the 20-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20). Data Privacy Brasil worked with partners to contribute to the report The Road to WSIS+20: Key Country Perspectives in the Twenty-Year Review of the World Summit on the Information Society, coordinated by Global Partners Digital and the Global Network Initiative, which provided a comprehensive mapping of different countries in order to create resources to support the negotiation process.

In addition to the research, there was strong advocacy work through the Global Digital Rights Coalition for WSIS, in which Data issued position statements and participated in several consultations throughout 2025, culminating in negotiations at the UN General Assembly for the renewal of the Summit process.

Data Privacy Brazil Research Association

PhD in Social Sciences from UNESP Araraquara and Master in International Relations from the San Tiago Dantas Postgraduate Program (UNESP - UNICAMP - PUC/SP). She was a fellow at the School of Internet Governance (EGI) at CGI.br, ICANN Next Gen and Youth @ IGF. She has been researching global Internet governance since 2016, a researcher at the Data Privacy Brasil Association since 2020 and area coordinator since 2023.

PhD candidate in Social Anthropology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a master's degree in Social Anthropology from the same university. She participated in the Youth Program and the School of Internet Governance in Brazil (CGI.br). She has experience in the areas of digital anthropology and political science, working on topics related to human-machine interaction, extremism and artificial intelligence. She is a researcher at the Data Privacy Brazil Research Association, in the line of Governance and Regulation.

Luize Ribeiro Research Intern

Bachelor of Humanities from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and undergraduate in Law from the same institution, with complementary training in the areas of Internet governance, innovation, and data protection. She is a member of the Digital Rights and Innovation Laboratory (LABIDD). She participated in the Youth Brazil (NIC.br) delegation at NetMundial+10 in 2024 and works as a local community at FIB15 in 2025. She worked in the Legal Quality department at Jusbrasil. At Data Privacy Brasil, she works as a research intern in the area of governance and regulation.
