Between the 9th and 10th of May, the UN Civil Society Conference is happening in Nairobi. The event is presented as an opportunity to engage civil society in preliminary discussions ahead of the Summit of the Future. In light of this and the publication of the zero draft of the Global Digital Compact (GDC), partner organizations Data Privacy Brasil, Digital Rights Foundation, Paradigm Initiative, Pollicy and Research ICT Africa developed a position paper addressing some of the pressing issues for civil society in the field of digital rights.

These issues were highlighted by the experiences of these organizations, considering both the GDC process and the Summit of the Future. This initiative stemmed from the meetings between members of the Global South Alliance, of which all the authors are part of, although it does not represent the views of all of its members.
