Cecília Olliveira is an investigative journalist dedicated to covering drug and arms trafficking and violence. In 2016, frustrated with the lack of publicly available data, she began mapping the shootings in Rio de Janeiro. This idea became Fogo Cruzado (“Crossed Fire”), which today is an Institute that uses technology to produce and disseminate open and collaborative data on gun violence. Today, FC is expanding to all major cities in Brazil. She was the only Latin American finalist for the 2020 Reporters Without Borders Press Awards, which celebrates bold and courageous voices in the global media.
