Lawyer and researcher with a background in the non-profit sector, specifically in human rights organizations. Graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), Mariana has a specialization degree in management of social projects and public policies at SENAC-SP. She worked as a research and advocacy advisor at the Legal Reference Center of ARTICLE 19 Brazil between the years 2014 and 2018, year in which she provided a research consultancy to the Alianza por la Libre Expresión e Información. She has been part of Data Privacy Brasil since March 2019 and, as of the formalization of the Data Privacy Brasil Research Association, she led the Observatory on Privacy and Data Protection project and became a project coordinator, a position she held until December 2022, when she started coordinating the institutional development and fundraising efforts of the organization. Since January 2023 she is also working on her Master’s degree in Philosophy, with a focus on data and digital societies, at the University of Tilburg, Netherlands.
